The Little Free Library

The Manchester Public Library and The Manchester-Essex Rotary Club are excited to announce the installation of a Little Free Library now located in Masconomo Park. The Little Free Library encourages anyone to take a book from the library or leave a book there to share. It’s that easy! There are more than 75,000 registered Little Free Library book-sharing boxes in 88 countries worldwide and the library and the Rotary Club are proud to be part of this wonderful free book exchange. We love this dual sponsorship, and the great installation by the Manchester DPW!

If other groups would like to take a month of the year to check in the library, replenish with books, etc. please contact Sara Collins, Library Director at [email protected] or 978-526-2011. Ideally, we’d love to have many groups each take one month of the year to check the collection and refill with good, used books, possibly connected with a subject of your groups interest (gardening, parenting, business, art?)  The library will always have a small collection put aside for refills, and we have stamp to  use to mark them as Little Free Library books. We will keep the library going, regardless, but contact us to get a month of the year if interested!

January Movie Night

On Friday, January 11 at 5:30 p.m. the library will be showing the sequel to the hit musical based on popular ABBA songs! Sophie Sheridan feels lost as she is about to embark on her own journey to becoming a mother. With the help of her family and friends, and some fun musical numbers, she is able to memorialize her mother by reopening her hotel in Greece and learning about the romantic struggles her own mother went through before giving birth to Sophie. This movie stars Amanda Seyfried, Lilly James, Meryl Streep, and Pierce Brosnan. Sorry we are not allowed to publicize the title but you can go to the Library’s website to see what the title is: www.manchesterpl.org/movies/movies-in-the-library, or call the Library at 978-526-7711. This movie is rated PG-13 and anyone under 13 must have a parent or guardian fill out a permission slip available at the Library’s circulation desk.
