Most Loveable Pet Photo Contest? CAPE ANN ANIMALS BENEFIT

Did you know that February 20 is National Love Your Pet Day? To celebrate all the dogs, cats, hamsters, bunnies, etc., that we love so much, we will be holding a photo contest.

All shutterbugs and all ages are welcome to enter. Pick up the Rules and Entry Form at the library. Submission deadline is Wednesday, February 6.  From February 7 through February 14, the community is invited to view the photographs and vote for Most Loveable Pet.

To celebrate all the pets we love, we will be collecting supplies to be donated to Cape Ann Animal Aid. You can view their wish list here.

Learn to Knit, or start again!                                                                               Crafters, Knitters, Sewers, whether you are a beginner or experienced at crafts, Drop in weekly at the Wednesday Crafternoon Group, Manchester Public Library, 3-4 PM. We’ll continue, knitting, crocheting, chatting and helping each other with crafts through March 2019. This cold season is a great time to pick up an old or new project. Stop in if you’re an adult, teen, or child ages 7 and older. Bring a project or use some great donated supplies we have here to get you going.

Deb Kaneb and Gus are back and looking forward to reading with you!  A Certified Reading Partner helps to build reading confidence by providing a safe, nonjudgmental space to practice, plus it’s so much fun.

Babies, Books and More:  Wednesdays starting January 9 at 10:30 a.m.

Join our circle of music, movement and simple stories in the Children’s Room. Suggested for birth through age 3, but everyone is welcome!

Book Nook Family Story Time Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.                         

Families are invited to join Miss Melanie in the Book Nook for story time fun!

Non-Fiction Book Group

Join us Monday, February 4 at 4 p.m. at the Manchester-by-the-Sea Public Library for a discussion of Leonardo Da Vinci by Walter Isaacsen. Additional copies are available at the front desk. New members are always welcome.

Hearthside Book Group

On Tuesday, February 5 at 4 p.m., the Hearthside Book Group will meet to discuss Never Caught by Erica Armstrong. Additional copies are at the front desk, new members are always welcome.

Sunday Book Sale

Stop by Sunday, February 17, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. for the Friends of the Library BookCart Book Sale. These monthly sales feature a variety of gently used books and provide funds for the many projects sponsored by the Friends on behalf of the Manchester-by-the-Sea Public Library. You are sure to find treasures for your own reading, or a gift for a friend.

New device questions? Want to use a laptop in the Library or the iPad? Need help downloading audiobooks on your phone with one of the library’s free services? Simmons Intern Molly Carlson will be here every Tuesday in January through March , 3-5 p.m. to assist and answer your tech questions.

February Movie Night                                                                            

On February 15 at 5:30 p.m.,  join us at the Manchester Public Library for a recent space title about a NASA pioneer and the impact his journey has on his family as well as country. This film stars Ryan Gosling, and for its amazing depiction of space travel has four Academy Award nominations (sound editing, sound mixing, production design, and visual effects). This movie is rated PG-13 and anyone under 13 must have a parent or guardian fill out a permission slip available at the Library’s circulation desk.  or flyers in the library.  Popcorn will be provided, please bring your own sealed /covered beverage.
