New Public Computers
The library has new, updated computers available to the public during library hours. Some of the many ways you can utilize the computers for your needs will be having access to Microsoft Office, your email, and fast and free internet. Printing is also available at 10 cents for a black and white copy and 25 cents for a colored copy.
Summer Reading Adult Survey
This year’s Summer Reading Kick-Off starts on Friday, June 14 and adults are welcome to join for some fun summer reading events and become eligible for some great prizes! While the kick-off will last all day, adults will have all summer to pop into the library and fill out a quick and easy user survey available at the library. Once it’s filled out, bring the completed form to the circulation desk where you will receive a list of recommended books and movies based on this year’s space summer reading theme, A Universe of Stories, and a gift card to Chipotle! Don’t wait, there are a limited number of gift cards are available. June Movie Night
On Friday, June 14 at 5:30 p.m. the library will show a film that dramatizes key moments during Vincent van Gogh’s time in France when he resided in Arles and Auvers-sur-Oise before his death. Vincent struggles with mental turmoil as he travels to southern France searching for artistic inspiration and support from family and friends. Despite opposition coming the many people he encounters, Vincent fights to create new and authentic art that will eventually become some of his greatest masterpieces. This movie stars Williem Dafoe, Oscar Isaac, and Rupert Friend. Bring your own drink, the Library will provide popcorn. This movie is rated PG-13 and anyone under 13 must have a parent or guardian fill out a permission slip available at the Library’s circulation desk.
Sally Ride Historical Performance
On Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m. come by the library to enjoy a performance by living history actress Sheryl Faye as she brings to life the famous astronaut Sally Ride who became the first American woman in space in 1983. Faye acts out the events in Sally Ride’s life that detail how her insatiable curiosities in science helped her overcome gender discrimination to achieve her lifelong dream of becoming an astronaut. Sheryl Faye is a full-time actress, performing a variety of historical women in New England. She also writes and performs with StageCoach Improv and keeps busy working on films, television and theater throughout Boston and New York. This program is sponsored by The Hooper Fund, whose generous support makes this program possible!
Books at the Beach Book Group
Join us on Thursday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m. for our Books at the Beach book group at Singing Beach. Manchester Library’s Sara, Lori and Rachael will talk about great beach reads, share suggestions and pick up some good books! This is a 30-minute group with fun beach reading suggestions, sharing of books, and more! The Group will be on the beach again in July, August and September with new suggestions and more talk of hot summer reading. BONUS FUN! First 10 to attend get a free library tote bag and a free iced coffee from our friends at the Laughing Gull concession stand. Shout out to Manchester Parks & Rec for helping us coordinate this fun.

A Universe of Stories Summer Reading Program! Join us for a fun-filled summer of programs and reading incentives as we explore A Universe of Stories and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing.
Starting June 14 kids through entering Kindergarten through entering grade six can sign up for A Universe of Stories Read-to-Bead Summer Reading Game. Register for the program and receive your game board and starter packet that includes a chain, star bead, book mark and Chipotle certificate for a free children’s meal! Then check out a bag filled with great books and start recording your reading. It’s easy! It’s fun! Complete your personal reading goal by August 14 and win an awesome prize packet from The Topsfield Fair! So don’t delay, stop by the Children’s Room on June 14 to and blast-off to a summer of reading fun!

Scott Jameson’s Out-of-this-World Magic kicks off our summer programs on Wednesday, June 26 at 2 p.m.

Back by popular demand – Scratch Tickets! Check out books, get a scratch ticket. Take a Craft in a Bag home with you, get a scratch ticket. Attend a Program, get a scratch ticket. Many of the scratch tickets will be instant winners; all will be entered into the End of Summer Raffle (where the prizes will be even more awesome).
To get the summer fun started, enter the Summer 2019 Teen Cosmic Cookie Bake-Off. Get the “Rules and Entry” at the library. Then, get baking. Join us on Friday, June 14th @ 3PM when a panel of judges will test-taste the cookies and choose the winner. The audience will also be invited to taste. YUM! Please register: 526-7711.
